يعتبر كهف الجارة الذي يقع فى الصحراء الغربية أروع ما وقعت عليه عين إنسان في منطقة إفريقيا عموماً والشمال منها خصوصاً، ويقع بالقرب من كثبان أبو محرق الرملية وبجوار درب قديم للقوافل يربط واحة الفرافرة في الصحراء الغربية بأسيوط، واكتشفه الألماني جيرهارد رولفز عام 1873 وذلك أثناء رحلته في صحراء الفرافرة للوصول إلي واحة الكفرة الليبية، ولكنه مكث بجوار تلك الكهوف للتعرف علي طبيعتها السحرية والتي تعد مجهولة حتي الآن ومازالت لغزاً محيراً لعلماء الجولوجيا حتي وقتنا هذا.

كهف الجارة ذو أبعاد سحرية نشأ كنتيجة طبيعية للماء النقي ومناخ الصحراء الجاف خلال ملايين من السنين، وهو يخالف كل كهوف المنطقة فى تكويناته وشكل رسوبياته الرائعة، حيث تبدو الأشكال الرسوبية الهابطة والصاعدة أشبه ما تكون بشلالات مياه متجمدة، وهي نتيجة لملايين من الأمتار المكعبة من المياه الأرضية التي تسربت خلال رمال الصحراء منذ ملايين من السنين وخلقت هذا الكهف الأرضي ثم جرى ترسيبها وتكثيفها بفعل الحرارة الشديدة.

الكهف يختلف عن باقي الكهوف المتعارف عليها من حيث الشكل والتكوين فمن الداخل يشبه اللوحات الجرافيتية الجذابة ذات الأبعاد السحرية التي رسمتها الطبيعه بفعل التكوين الترسيبي للرمال والمياه منذ الآف السنين حيث تبدو التكوينات و الأشكال الرسوبية عبارة عن شلالات ثلجية هابطة وصاعدة ارتفاعها يتجاوز 15 متراً , وذلك نتيجة لتسرب المياه الجوفية خلال رمال الصحراء منذ العصور الأولي .

ويوجد بمدخل الكهف العديد من الرسومات والمخربشات، وتوجد بساحة الكهف من الداخل بهو مجوف مملوء بالشلالات الصخريه الصاعدة والهابطة ذات المنظر الجذاب الرائع .

والمدهش أن داخل الكهف يشع نورا كما لو كانت الشمس بداخله, إذا أشعل أي شخص “عود كبريت” أو ولاعه وتضاء جميع جوانب الكهف علي قدرمساحته الشاسعه وتعتبر الشلالات الصخرية كقناديل معلقه تشع نورا وهاجاً علي قدر طولها .

وتعد صحراء الفرافرة من أغنى الصحروات في مصر بل والعالم , وذلك لغناها بالمناطق الأثرية والمعالم السياحية بل لا يكاد يخلو ركن منها إلا ويوجد به قطعة فنية من وحي الطبيعة، فضلاً عن المعالم والكهوف التي تحتفظ بها الصحراء لنفسها منذ القدم ليكون شاهد تاريخي علي مر العصور والحقب التاريخية.

 The cave differs from the rest of the known caves in terms of shape and composition. From the inside, it resembles attractive graphite paintings with magical dimensions drawn by nature due to the sedimentary formation of sand and water thousands of years ago. Groundwater seepage through the desert sands since the early ages.

 At the entrance to the cave there are many drawings and scribbles, and in the courtyard of the cave from the inside there is a hollow hall filled with ascending and descending rocky waterfalls with a wonderful attractive view.

 The amazing thing is that the inside of the cave radiates light as if the sun was inside it, if anyone lit a “match” or a lighter, and all sides of the cave are lit as large as its vast area.
